- Abstract
The article examines what a human rights perspective in mental health and psychosocial disabilities could mean and how a more nuanced approach to rights can provide an important challenge to mainstream approaches in global mental health. Topics discussed include description of a rights-based approach and suggestions for how to integrate such an approach into mental health policy and practice in a way that more fully addresses the social and structural determinants of emotional well-being.
