- Abstract
The author reflects on the H1N1 influenza A pandemic in 2009. The author states that the virus is a new subtype of influenza that was observed to contain a combination of influenza viruses genes from swine, bird and human. He mentions the study of Martin-Loeches and colleagues which shows that younger and healthy people are affected by viral pneumonia. He adds that global surveillance is needed to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus.
