- Title
Diversity Trends, Practices, and Challenges in the Financial Services Industry.
- Authors
Miller, Sandra K.; Tucker III, James J.
- Abstract
Diversity initiatives and efforts are broad-based and well established in the financial services industry. Nevertheless, the level of inclusion of women and minorities within the industry has continually been the focus of Congressional hearings and legislation, including the Dodd-Frank Act. Recent studies conducted by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Government Accountability Office present insight into the industry's efforts to achieve greater diversity, including changes in the composition of the industry's workforce. Since 1993 the industry has had limited success in increasing the representation of women and minorities. The industry faces a number of recruiting and retention issues that have been ongoing challenges.
