- Abstract
The Journal of Sleep Research (JSR) is a reputable publication in the field of sleep medicine. The journal has seen a significant increase in submissions over the years, indicating its popularity among researchers and clinicians. The editorial discusses the future of scientific publishing, particularly the shift towards Open Access (OA) publishing. The article explains the concept of OA publishing, its benefits, challenges, and different models. The JSR currently follows a hybrid publishing model, but there is a discussion about potentially transitioning to full OA. Additionally, the possibility of launching a sister journal to accommodate rejected papers and new article types is being considered. The authors invite further discussion on these topics at the Sleep Europe conference.
