This article explores the extent to which American geographer Carl Ortwin Sauer and American poet Charles Olson share an interest in human-centered universe and/or landscape. The article provides translations of a Maximus poem "Maximus to Gloucester Letter 27 [withheld]" by Olson, and an informal remark on the nature of geography entitled, "The Quality of Geography" by Sauer; both first to appear in Turkish, in their cultural and historical contexts.
