- Abstract
The article discusses the 17th-century stage adaptation by John Dryden and William Davenant of the play "The Tempest" by William Shakespeare. Particular focus is given to the adaptation's reception history. According to the author, its popularity was due in part to the way in which it demonstrated natural philosophical ideas associated with the Royal Society of London, both in form and content.
