- Abstract
The article discusses research which investigated the opinions of patients on the appropriateness of their hospital stay. Results of the study showed that 61% of the patients were transferred from the acute wards while 39% were directly from the emergency room. It notes that patients expressed somatic concerns for their admission and stay. Psychosocial variable such as living alone is said to increase the possibility of inappropriate admission.
