- Abstract
This article discusses the case of a 25-year-old Caucasian male with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) who was referred for evaluation of multifocal retinal tumors in both eyes. The patient had a history of cardiac rhabdomyoma and subependymal giant cell astrocytoma. The examination revealed nodular, cream-colored tumors in both eyes, as well as congenital hypertrophy of the retinal pigmented epithelium and a punched-out retinal pigmented epithelium lesion. The diagnosis of retinal astrocytic hamartoma (RAH) was made, and observation was advised. The article also provides information on the classification of RAH and the differentiation between RAH and retinoblastoma using optical coherence tomography (OCT).
