- Title
THE CONCEPT OF ATONEMENT IN THE QUMRAN LITERATURE AND THE NEW COVENANT.
- Authors
Kim, Jintae
- Abstract
The article examines the relationship between the concept of atonement in the New Testament and the Qumran literature. It explores the significance of the use of the phrase "the new covenant" in the Qumran literature that was not used in any other literary works of the early rabbinic period. Furthermore, it discusses the fusion of the New Testament concept of the atoning death of Jesus Christ as a Messiah with the eschatological forgiveness promised in the new covenant prophecy in the book of Jeremiah.
