- Abstract
This paper gives a brief overview of networking and the role that the mentor/mentee plays in it. It defines networking and mentor. Also included are the value of mentoring, the old boys system, characteristics of mentors, actions taken by mentors to ensure productive relationships, responsibilities of mentees, leadership skills developed and, African American women. An appeal is made to African American women/men in higher education administration who have succeeded to become mentors.
