- Abstract
The article presents how high levels of brassinosteroids (BRs) counteract gravitropic growth, while BR deficiency enhances gravitropism regardless of a functional starch sheath. It also shows that BRs are negative regulators of the shoot graviresponse. It cites the use of horizontally placed petri dishes to study the effect of BRs on growth orientation of seedlings. It suggests the need for more studies to clarify the contribution of modified starch accumulation, the wall mechanics and osmoregulation in the defective graviresponse of BR-treated plants.
