- Title
Understanding literacy development.
- Authors
Geekie, Peter; Cambourne, Brian; Fitzsimmons, Phil
- Abstract
The authors comment on Professor Robin Campbell's review of their book "Understanding Literacy Development." They are concerned that Campbell's review does not convey adequately the essence of their argument. His omissions make what they have said sound bland and familiar and hardly worth saying. They point out that their comments on Vygotsky's notion of the difference between spontaneous and scientific concepts are similarly distorted by what has been left out of the review.
