- Title
THE PERFORMATIVITY OF PERFORMANCE DOCUMENTATION.
- Authors
Auslander, Philip
- Abstract
The author reflects on the role of performance documentation in art. He proposed that performance documentation encompasses two categories namely, documentary and the theatrical. The author stressed that the documentary category represents the traditional way in which the relationship between performance art and its documentation is conceived. Moreover, he believes that the connection between performance and document is ontological, with the event preceding and authorizing its documentation.
