- Abstract
The article offers literary criticism of the poetry collection "After the Small Pox," by the 18th century English writer Mary Jones. Introductory comments are given discussing the large-scale social impact which women faced when suffering from Small Pox during the period and Jones' works as analyzed for their depiction of its complexities. An interpretive framework based on rabbinical exegesis is suggested to map the symbolic, allegorical and literal elements of the theme within the texts.
