- Abstract
The article discusses the issue of whether a non-citizen's right to effective assistance of counsel under the U.S. Constitution's Sixth Amendment is violated when a lawyer fails to advise a non-citizen that a criminal conviction may result to deportation. Also cited are the U.S. Supreme Court rulings in the 1984 landmark case 'Strickland v. Washington," the 2010 case "Padilla v. Kentucky," and the 2017 case "Lee v. U.S."
