- Abstract
The article discusses the necessity of reforming family law guidelines to decrease the potential for cultural discrimination using guardian's ad litem (GALs). Topics discussed include the theoretical considerations of culture and use in child welfare proceedings, the use of court-appointed representatives for children in child welfare proceedings, such as abuse and neglect dependency hearings along with the discretionary nature of child welfare proceedings by examining GALs in the U.S.
