- Abstract
In the process of political socialization, the identity of the individual is formed by innate or acquired values. The individual, who gains these values in any way, reveals his political behavior by identifying with his characteristics. This is where political psychology comes in. In general, political psychology studies are known as a discipline that puts the "human" phenomenon in the foreground. Political psychology, which is a multidisciplinary field, is a science that started to attract attention in the 20th century. Just as psychological factors are important in interpersonal relations, psychological factors are important in the relations of human states with each other. Leadership is also an important research area of political psychology. Psychological elements are important in the identity of the leader, his influence on his people, and the outside world. In this study, it has been tried to analyze the leadership characteristics of Rauf Denktaş, who is an important leader in the Turkish world, whose name is integrated with the Cyprus problem, in terms of political psychology. Especially in this analysis, the theories of Vamık Volkan, who is originally a Turkish Cypriot and who has proven his reputation in the field of psychiatry in the world, are based on.
