- Abstract
Introducción. Las trampas de luz de tipo CDC son comúnmente utilizadas para la recolección de flebótomos. Sin embargo, su costo y operación en campo sugieren la necesidad de evaluar alternativas que optimicen su implementación en investigación y vigilancia. Objetivo. Validar la eficacia, en términos de riqueza y abundancia, de una trampa de luz ultravioleta con respecto a las trampas de luz tipo CDC, en la Amazonia peruana. Materiales y métodos. Se evaluó el efecto del tipo de trampa de luz sobre la riqueza y abundancia de flebótomos recolectados en tres localidades durante nueve noches utilizando un diseño de cuadrado latino 3 x 3. Cada noche de muestreo se activó, de las 18:00 a las 06:00 horas, una trampa CDC de luz incandescente, una trampa CDC de luz UV y una trampa KATCHY UV modificada por los autores. El material recolectado fue almacenado en una solución con alcohol al 70% y posteriormente identificado siguiendo los métodos de Young y Duncan (1994) y Galati (2019). Resultados. Se recolectaron 1.184 individuos distribuidos en 24 especies. Las más abundantes fueron Nyssomyia shawi y Trichophoromyia sp. La riqueza media fue significativamente diferente entre las trampas (p<0,001). Se identificaron más especies con la trampa KATCHY. La abundancia fue similar entre las tres trampas evaluadas. Conclusión. La trampa KATCHY presentó resultados comparables con los obtenidos en las trampas CDC, pero cabe resaltar su capacidad para capturar una mayor diversidad, por lo que constituye una herramienta útil en estudios de caracterización de focos de leishmaniasis.
