Title
Risk of importation of equine piroplasmosis into the UK.
Abstract
The article reports on the risk of the importation of equine piroplasmosis (EP) in horses in Great Britain. It states that EP is a tickborne protozoal infection and its distribution has historically been identified by the presence of suitable tick vectors and habitats and stable equine populations. For those who have EP, one must undergo blood testing and tick removal before import and a period of quarantine on arrival.
