- Authors
Kaszczak, Ivan
- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between Patriarch Josyf Slipyj and the Ukrainian Catholic Church in the U.S. Particular focus is given to issues of identity faced by the American-Ukranian diaspora. It is suggested that the diasporic nature of this community can assist it in its evangelical mission of preaching the Gospel to all nations. Details on Slipyj's visits to the U.S. are presented. Other topics include the novel "The Shoes of the Fisherman" by Morris L. West, which was based on Slipyj's life, and Bishop Soter Stephen Ortynsky, a bishop serving Ukrainian Catholics in North America.
