An essay is presented on the shortcomings of the U.S rule of law as well as its precepts. Topics discussed include various aspects of the rule of law, the book "The Nature of the Judicial Process" by Justice Benjamin N. Cardozo, and the U.S District Court for the Southern District of New York's decision in case United States ex rel. Elksnis v. Gilligan that addressed the conviction of plaintiff for homicide on a guilty plea.
