- Authors
Brown, Henry M.; Brown, Rebecca E.
- Abstract
The article reports on the Murphy Deed right-of-way reservations in Florida that yielded cost savings by the taxpayer bailout in the 1930s. It states that the 1937 Murphy Act bailout stirred up the economy and pardoned neglectful taxpayers at a significant cost on their obligations in taxes as well as the state and the local governments. It mentions that it brought back state-owned lands to landowners with tax defaults holding the right-of-way alleviations for roadway construction in the future.
