The article presents a biography of Gertrude Käsebier. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and spent her childhood in Colorado. After studying in Pennsylvania, she lived in New York and was married to a German businessman Edward Käsebier in 1873. In 1893, she went to Europe to continue her study, became occupied in photography and set up a commercial portrait studio in Manhattan. She died in 1894 and was known as one of the leading American photographers from the year 1890 to 1920.
