- Abstract
Objective of this study was to observe effect of allergen specific immunotherapy for patients' headache and dizziness complains Study design: Outcomes research Patients: Adult dust mites allergy patients with complains of several nasal and also headache and dizziness symptoms. Intervention(s): receiving allergen specific immunotherapy for 1 year Main outcome measure(s): Patients visual analog scale (VAS) scores were compared before and one year after immunotherapy. Patient were excluded if they start to use any medication known to be preventive for migraine and headache. Results: 31 patients with median age of 41 years included for the study. Headache and nasal congestion were the most common symptom. After 1year of immunotherapy significant improvement (p<O.Ol) in dizziness and headache in VAS was seen in addition to improvement other symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, postnasal drainage. Cough symptom also improved but difference was not significant. Conclusions: Allergen specific immunotherapy in dust mite allergic patients alleviates headache and dizziness complains. Allergen specific immunotherapy may have implications in management of migraine and migraine related vertigo.
