The article focuses on the U.S. Volcker Rule, a rule that minimizes risk in the U.S. financial sector by limiting the authority of the banking industry to engage in proprietary trading. Information is provided on how the Rule, part of the U.S. Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, was weakened by the passage of the Merkley-Levin Amendment.
