- Abstract
The article focuses on the urban transformation of physical environment of the medium-sized Turkish cities. It states that the formation of metropolitan cities in 1985 and Mass Housing Administration of Turkey (TOKI) in 1990 were the means for urban transformation of the medium-sized cities in the country. It explores the building process of housing in the cities in which it is combined with several architectural and urban renewal projects in areas in worst condition. It says that the urban transformation of medium scale cities in the country such as Bursa Antalya and Kayseri is in the context of transforming its physical environment. It mentions that under-ground roads are being constructed by the municipalities in almost every medium scale Turkish cities.
