The article argues for minimalist architecture because the man-made environment has become so complex so that man no longer reveres Nature but himself. It is pointed out that man is pretending to create the world. It is argued that reduction to simplicity cannot be considered as nihilism. It is observed that the tendency to simplify has become an underlying factor in art movements of the early part of the 20th century and that architects can learn much from them.
