- Abstract
The article discusses the prevention of diabetic foot ulcer among at-risk patients. It refers to neuropathy, deformity and trauma as contributing factors to the development of diabetic foot ulcer. It stresses the need to determine the clinical signs of active Charcot foot and to initiate an off-loading plan to prevent deformity and ulceration that may include of corrective oesteotomies and subtalar joint fusion. It suggests prophylactic and curative pedal surgery for neuropathic foot ulcer.
