- Abstract
Celestine is usually utilized to prepare strontium carbonate which has found wide use in the manufacture of cathode ray tubes, electromagnets and various strontium-based salts so that it is deemed as a kind of important raw material in chemical industry. The Celestine mineral was very finely disseminated in the ore sample taken from Dazu celestine mine in Chongqing and contained high calcite. In order to effectively separate the fine celestine from calcite, the suspended vibration cone concentrator was employed for the gravity separation. The results show that as the suspended vibration cone concentrator was operated under conditions: 3.0 min of grinding time, 20 Hz of rotation frequency and 14 Hz of vibration frequency, the celestine ore with feed grade of 58.43% can be upgraded to obtain the celestine concentrate with integrated grade of 79. 39% and a recovery of 72. 16%.
