- Abstract
All systems of the body can be affected by psychosomatic diseases. The factors determining the localization of psychosomatic diseases are: the existence of organic weakness; more or less conscious gain from the disease for the subject, and the nature of the disease-trigger mechanism of an effective trauma. One of the classic representatives of psychosomatic diseases is bronchial asthma. Due to the similarity and frequent comorbidity of asthma and panic disorder, the two theories (the theory of fear of dyspnea/suffocation and cognitive theory) are used to explain how asthma symptoms are influenced by psychological factors.
