- Abstract
The long note leads to their conclusions, although in an open-ended way, some considerations developed in three essays published in Vivens homo in 2005, 2015 and 2016 on the topic of male homosexuality in relationship with the moral-pedagogical proposal of Socrates according to Plato's understanding along with that of his followers in the Greek world, both pagan and christian up to John Chrysostom, and in the western world in the centuries there to come. In this last essay, the author, sometimes writing in the first person in a narrative way, focuses on issues of contemporary literature and of pastoral. Bishops and pontiffs, especially with the frankness of pope Francis, express a humanistic attention linked to the ancient Socrates and Chrysostom up to today: an open and human attention that aims at suggesting, in the field of the love of the same, personal and public dignity in an existential relationship with catholicism.
