REGULATION OF MONOPOLISTIC METHODS.
- Authors
Werner, Ray O.; Griffiths, L. C.; Duggan, Michael A
- Abstract
The article presents legal developments in marketing with particular focus on the regulation of monopolistic methods. One of the developments describes the case of the United States v. Realty Multi-List Inc., in which the court found that the marketing of real estate through Realty's multiple listing service could provide very substantial benefits, and as such was the case, the requirements for admission were found to cause a restraint of trade. Another development describes the complaint by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission that the plans of E. I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. to gain almost all of the market share on a new commodity were monopolistic. A proceeding found that even if DuPont did establish a monopoly, its plans supported competition.
