- Abstract
The article presents U.S. legal developments relative to marketing and commercial legislation. The relevance of foreign nations in relation to U.S. antitrust legislation is discussed in the Pfizer, Inc., et al. v. Government of India, et al. case. In 1978 the U.S. Supreme Court recognized the foreign nations in the case as "persons" within the meaning of Section 4 of the Clayton Act. This distinction allowed the nations to sue Pfizer, Inc. for treble damages. The case included the governments of Iran, India, and the Philippines.
