- Abstract
The article presents U.S. legal developments in marketing relative to the regulation of product characteristics. In reference to product standards the U.S. Federal Trade Commission released an advisory opinion in 1970 responding to the advertising claims of one automobile tire manufacturer. In 1969 the FTC clarified the terminology associated with leather products. The FTC also gave its opinion in regards to what constitutes a product being labeled peat moss.
