- Abstract
The article discusses the history and conservation of the medieval castle of Coucy in France. Topics explored include the destruction of the castle in 1917 by the German Army under the leadership of General Erich Ludendorff, the construction of the castle in the 13th century to serve as chief residence for baronial families in France, and the national monument historique designation earned by the ruins of the castle from the French government in 1862.
