- Abstract
The article discusses the diaries of British director of counter-espionage for MI5 Guy Liddell, kept between 1939 and 1953. It details how Liddell became aware that men he knew on both a professional and social level, especially during World War II, were actually spies for the Soviet Union. Kim Philby, Guy Burgess, and Anthony Blunt were all employed at either British intelligence services MI5 or MI6 during World War II and were later all identified as being Soviet spies.
