- Title
How are the Mighty Fallen?
- Abstract
The article presents an examination of the impact that the King James version of the Bible has had on the English language. The author discusses the number of idioms that appear in the King James Bible and notes that many of them actually first appeared in the Bishop's Bible of 1568. He asserts that the influence of the King James Bible on the English language has been exaggerated and points to several examples of individuals awarding too much recognition to the Bible in light of its 400th anniversary in 2011.
