The article focuses on the experiences and challenges of Black women serving as academic leaders, particularly as department chairs in universities. Topics include the historical context of Black women's studies programs; the complexities of the department chair role; and practical advice from contributors; and emphasizing the need for diversity in leadership to reflect the changing demographics of student and faculty populations.
