The fecundity, fertility, and longevity of three DDT-resistant populations have been compared with these traits in their corresponding controls. The controls usually showed higher fecundity and fertility, but the resistant flies had a longer life span. These differences are interpreted in terms of the differing selection pressures that have existed in the two kinds of populations.
