- Abstract
P92 heat-resistant steel has been successfully submerged arc welded by employing designed CaF2–Cr2O3 fluxes. It has been demonstrated that δ-ferrite is retained in the weld metal, the area fraction of which is found an approximately 3.7-fold enhancement as the Cr2O3 content in the fluxes is raised from 5 to 25 wt pct. Such phenomenon has been elucidated through governing element transfer behaviors incurred by the decomposition of Cr2O3. Our findings possibly offer a viable solution towards developing welding fluxes geared towards durable heat-resistant steel grades.
