- Abstract
The article offers Islamic assessment of concepts of democracy and constitutionalism. It compares the democracy with that of Shariah, which seek to realize certain rights such as public welfare, government accountability and rights to education and employment. Comments by Islamic theologian Yusuf al-Qaradawi on relation of Islam and democracy, Islamic tradition and morality and challenges face in harmonization of civil law and Shariah are presented.
