- Abstract
A striking number of phenomena suggest that a structural change of political communication is currently taking place. This change is related to the diffusion of online media and the adoption of their potential of convergence. Based on the »communicative construct of politics« approach the change is differentiated by means of a dimensional analysis. Thus, nine dominant and interdependent tendencies of change can be identified: digitalization, heterogenization, hybridization, pluralization, dynamization, globalization, functional integration, rationalization, and scientificization. The relevance of these trends is examined by focusing on the individual perspective, the organizational perspective, and the societal perspective. This framework of dimensions and perspectives can structure research.
