- Abstract
The contribution deals with problematics of Roman type composition and printing of Czech language textbooks before and after the declaration of school reforms of the Flabsburg ruler Maria Theresia in 1774. The main attention is focused on primers and reading-books used in primary schools. Their older editions are described in a summary way while the later ones, printed at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, are described in a greater detail. The activities and lifetime of František Jan Tomsa or the history of The Printing Flouse of the Normal School in Prague are mentioned too. The contributor gathered a lot of details about old primers and reading-books deposited in various state and church libraries of The Czech Republic and his work brings new bibliographic data and information.
