- Authors
Welcher, Catherine M.; Kirk, Lynne M.; Hawkins, Richard E.
- Abstract
The article discusses the authors' views about the American Board of Medical Specialties' maintenance of certification (MOC) program and the need for physicians in the U.S. to advocate for a certification process that is evidence-based and relevant to clinical practice. According to the article, some physicians are dissatisfied with the MOC and the administrative burdens of electronic medical records. The impact of the MOC on patient care in the U.S. is examined.
