- Title
A Method for Quantitative Analysis of Cotton/Kohjin Blends.
- Authors
Perkins, Warren S.
- Abstract
Blends of cotton and Kohjin fibers are analyzed quantitatively through dissolution of the Kohjin portion of the blend by successive treatment of the blend with 40% (w/w) formic acid and N,N-dimethylformamide. Analysis of the moisture regain of the blend also gives an indication of the blend composition, since the moisture regain of the blend is directly proportional to the percentage of cotton present. Results of trial analyses on experimental blends are presented. The accuracy of the dissolution method appears to be about ± 1 % , while tat of the moisture determination method is about ±3%.
