- Abstract
The article offers clinical information on the role of serotonin transporter in psychiatric disorders. Most psychotropic medications functions in the serotonergic system, which is consists of serotonin, serotonin receptors and serotonin transporter. The serotonin transporter is a plasma membrane protein that takes up extracellular serotonin and transports it back into the cell. Some genetic research in psychiatric disorders are also highlighted.
