- Abstract
The article discusses advances in the genetic basis of prostate cancer in the U.S., including screening and management aspects and risk assessment factors. It is inferred that prostate cancer is the most common malignancy and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among American men. In a specific percentage, it occurs as a mutation in a major gene predisposing the disease. Information on how to identify prostate cancer susceptibility genes and screening guidelines is provided.
