- Title
Pecunia non olet: the economic incentive in early ZImbabwean stone sculpture.
- Authors
BOURGOIS, GEERT G.
- Abstract
Contemporary stone sculpture from Zimbabwe has been on the map since at least 1962 - if not before. Pecuniary matlers, however, have long since reigned supremely for betler or for worse -- over the production of this much vaunted art. The present article will therefore investigate the monetary aspect during the early years of Zimbabwean stone sculpture. In this way, one will be able to deduce for oneself how the prospect of gains ruled or frustrated the expectations of the participants in this particular field.
