- Abstract
This article discusses new therapies for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) after large vessel occlusion (LVO). While rapid restoration of blood flow through recanalization has been the primary strategy, the prognosis for patients remains poor. The article explores the potential of novel pharmacological approaches, such as neuroprotection and targeting stroke-induced inflammation, to improve outcomes. These treatments aim to delay or limit progressive brain infarction and reduce the inflammatory response associated with stroke. The article also discusses the potential of targeting T cells and platelets as therapeutic strategies. Overall, the article highlights the need for additional treatments to improve outcomes for patients with AIS.
