The article reports on the works of Gi Hyeong-do, what the author calls the first Korean same-sex writer to have a global audience, and how they have influenced Korean literature. The author provides excerpts of many of Gi's poems, including "Front of the Bar" and "Slur." According to the author, Gi Hyeong-do's work helped Korea to embrace sexual diversity, GLBT identity and liberalization.
